For Shopify clients, we should have access to the Shopify UI, making it easy to validate revenue and conversion numbers that are pulling through to the dashboards.

The below outlines how to create a report to validate conversion and revenue numbers in Shopify and also to view the Shopify Order IDs and Order Numbers.

Shopify Data Validation

Step 1: In order to access the Shopify UI, log in here using the Shopify log in credentials found on LastPass.

Step 2: In the left hand menu, click “Analytics” and then “Reports”.

Step 3: Click “Create custom report”.

Step 4: In the Create custom report pop-up select “Sales over time” and then select “Create custom report”.

Step 5: At the top left hand side of the screen, select the time period you want to investigate and also the comparison period (or select no comparison). Remember to click Apply!

Step 6: Select “None” for the date granularity, again at the top left hand side of the screen.

Step 7: Click on the columns button and then select “Sales channel name”, “Total sales” and “Orders”.

Step 8: Click on the filter button and in the “Manage filters” pop-up window add a filter for sale kind is order.

Step 9: In order to filter by market, click “Add filter” and add a filter for “Shipping country/ region”. Click Apply Filters to add this to the report.

When validating conversion and revenue numbers in Shopify compared to numbers in the dashboards you will need to know which sales channels we are reconciling to.

By default, we reconcile to the sales channel “Online Store” and the total conversions in Fospha should match the “Online Store” sales channel in Shopify, plus any transactions that are tracking in GA, even if the transactions don’t fall into the sales channel “Online Store”. For clients who have App or TikTok Shop, we may also reconcile to these sale channels in Shopify. There may also some cases where additional reconcilable sources have been added in.

Comparing this to the conversion and revenue figures seen in the dashboards, we can see that we closely match Shopify when looking at Online Store and Mobile App sales channels.

Order ID and Order Name

In order to view Shopify Order IDs and Order Numbers, in the same report as outlined above, click on the columns button and then select “Order ID” and “Order Name” to add in these columns.
